Voice loses itself in lies. Self-doubt is an algorithm misapplied. We worship childhood idols because we’re too scared not to follow in our father’s footsteps. Our mothers kiss rosaries; pray for our safety after they drop us off at school. Days bleed, limp into the next. Nights are decapitated rainbows. We sit nailed to wooden desks, afraid to raise our hands.

About Daniel Romo

Author of Apologies in Reverse (FutureCycle Press, 2019), When Kerosene's Involved (Mojave River Press, 2014) and Romancing Gravity (Silver Birch Press, 2013). I'm partial to prose poems. Alliteration. And fragments.
