A journal accepted a set of IKEA poems and wanted an in depth commentary but I took too long to get it back to her because she was asking for too much so she sent the poems back to me and I don’t feel like sending out much at this time so here is one of them

Poland arrests two over bombs at European IKEA  stores.   October 8, 2011 -BBC

They booby-trapped the Eastern Block. Built bombs out of DEKAD alarm clocks, a blazing wake-up call. Declared their detonation spree would cease when their ransom was delivered. 8 mil and no one gets killed, read notes pinned to VÄGGIS corkboards written with MÅLA pens. Money wired in exchange for lives. But IKEA doesn’t believe in extortion, and the crooks were caught before they made a profit. The only casualty was a trash can. Rest assured. No furniture was seriously injured.

About Daniel Romo

Author of Apologies in Reverse (FutureCycle Press, 2019), When Kerosene's Involved (Mojave River Press, 2014) and Romancing Gravity (Silver Birch Press, 2013). I'm partial to prose poems. Alliteration. And fragments.

  1. What exactly would in-depth commentary add? Not understanding.

    • Yeah. That’s why I wasn’t in a hurry. It’s an “experimental” journal and she likes the authors to provide an explanation behind the process for each poem. I prefer to submit poems, not commentary.

  2. Next from the mind of poet Daniel Romo: prose poem-length titles!
