“Cool as a cucumber sittin’ in the back, pickin’ his teeth with a crowbar.” (video two)

Today I went to my Uncle Michael’s funeral. I saw several family members who I unfortunately only see under these circumstances. The nephew in me wanted to mourn. The writer in me wanted to mourn through writing. I’m not good at writing about real-life sad events. It hurts too much to channel. But I suppose this is a form of mourning through writing. Today at the cemetery, I overheard someone say my Great-Uncle Charlie was on YouTube. I couldn’t imagine why. I wanted to turn around and ask him why, but I didn’t. So tonight I YouTubed him. Sure enough, there he was. I’m not sure if any of my family ever reads my blog. If so, I think Uncle Michael is looking down, smiling at his Uncle Charlie from South Central Los Angeles. I know I am. This is for you Uncle Michael…

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your uncle. (And thank you for sharing the videos.)
