These are the best parts of the residency so far:

* Meeting some new cool peeps

* Hanging with the homies I met last residency

* Working with my mentor Alan Michael Parker (Ordinarily I’m not feelin’ the three name combo, but Anthony Michael Hall and Phillip Michael Thomas are pretty epic, so I guess Alan is exempt from my three name distaste.)

* Writing some new stuff

* Attending the all program dinner and eating a small (but juicy) steak, and savoring a cheesecake/strawberry shortcake

Best part:

Watching basketball late-night and shootin’ the shit with other MFAers, and writer/instructor deluxes Alan, Jim McKean, and Sebastian Matthews.

And I’m back in the swing of things. Now I know how Stella felt.

About Daniel Romo
