My seven cents a day saves a starving small Somalian; the pocket change jingles in his bloated belly. His name is Samboobwa. Sam for short. Sometimes they send me pictures of Sam. Sometimes Sam’s smiling. When I look at the pictures I think of Sally Struthers. When I think of Sally Struthers I think of Meathead. Sam’s father is a pirate. His mother had a virus. I don’t know exactly where Somalia is, other than it’s in Africa. When I think of Africa I think of We Are the World. When I think of We Are the World I think of my 80’s grade school pictures: a background of barn, bright lights, tilted head … Cheeeeese
